Unconfirmed: The Information said on X on 3 November that Anthropic is telling IPO investors a 15-person chip team uses Claude to speed up chip design; Automatica has not confirmed the claim.

@theinformation, the X account of news publication The Information, wrote on 3 November: “Anthropic is telling IPO investors that its 15-person chip team is already using Claude to speed up chip design, potentially giving it an advantage over established chipmakers like Nvidia and AMD.” The post also includes a “Read more” link to an Information article that Automatica has not accessed, so the sourcing and context behind the claim are not visible from the post alone @theinformation on X1.

What would settle the claim is a primary IPO document or direct statement: an S-1, roadshow material, or an Anthropic statement confirming the team size, the use of Claude in the design flow, and the basis for the post’s comparison with Nvidia and AMD. The underlying Information article could also clarify how the claim was sourced. What would weaken it is a denial from Anthropic or primary documents that contradict or omit the point. Automatica has not found any such filing or statement.

There is also no performance detail attached to the post. Even if it accurately reflects investor messaging, it does not say which part of chip design Claude allegedly helps with, what baseline it is being compared against, or whether there are measurable outputs such as shorter design cycles, better verification coverage, or tapeout results @theinformation on X1.

The broader IPO backdrop makes the claim easier to understand, but does not verify it. Automatica reported on 2 November that Anthropic named eight intermediaries for an Australian retail offer tied to a planned Nasdaq IPO Automatica Press (earlier coverage)3. Also on 3 November, Automatica reported a Techmeme post claiming an Anthropic S-1 warned it may soon hit an RSI threshold, while noting no filing or direct company statement had been confirmed Automatica Press (earlier coverage)4. Later that day, Automatica separately reported a Techmeme post attributing to the Wall Street Journal a claim that investors urged Anthropic to seek a lower IPO valuation, again without confirmation or access to the underlying article Automatica Press (earlier coverage)2.

Those reports show active IPO talk around Anthropic, and in one case mention an alleged S-1, but they do not corroborate the chip-design claim in The Information’s post. For now, this remains an attribution-only report about what that post says Anthropic is telling investors.
