Automatica Engine · For publishers and newsrooms
Turn your reporting into stories ready to publish.
Connect research, writing, editing and publication in one editorial workflow. The Automatica Engine develops source material into coverage, applies house style and checks the evidence before a story runs.
The Engine behind Automatica Press, which has been publishing for nearly a year. Built through daily newsroom use.
Built around the editorial work
More room to report. A clearer path to publication.
Keep the reporting moving
Source monitoring, research, drafting and editing run through one workflow. Journalists can concentrate on gathering information while the Engine develops it into coverage.
Give every story a consistent standard
A shared editorial framework guides structure, attribution and house style. Evidence and safety checks determine whether a story can move to publication or needs more work.
Keep the evidence within reach
Source documents and research snapshots stay connected to the story. Editors can inspect the material behind the draft, resolve a hold and correct published coverage.
Inside the Automatica Engine
Two ways to create. One editorial standard.
Follow the material from its first source to the finished article. Open any stage for a closer look at the work happening inside the Engine.
From monitored sources to a draft
Monitor sources
Collect new reporting and documents.
Inside this stage: Monitor sources
Incoming material comes from monitored feeds, publications and social sources. Source profiles record evidence type and potential conflicts.
Group the story
Connect items about the same event.
Inside this stage: Group the story
Related items become a story cluster and are assigned to the appropriate beat. Several outlets repeating one announcement do not count as independent confirmation.
Research the evidence
Retrieve originals and establish support.
Inside this stage: Research the evidence
Source pages and relevant linked documents form an evidence dossier. Primary-source research identifies the original documents a story needs to cite. Missing required evidence stops drafting.
Draft & apply style
Write from the dossier in the desk’s voice.
Inside this stage: Draft & apply style
The assigned writer develops the article from the retrieved evidence. Structure, length, attribution and house style are checked, with a style-edit pass when needed.
Your reporting becomes the starting point
Capture what you find. The Engine develops the article while preserving your reporting and byline.
- Reporter’s notesObservations, context and story angle
- PhotographsOptional images with photographer credit
- InterviewsOptional audio and speaker information
Capture & submit
Save reporting and upload the package.
Inside this stage: Capture & submit
The reporter supplies notes and optional photos or recordings. Local saves and resumable uploads preserve progress; processing continues on the server after upload completes.
Prepare the material
Transcribe audio and prepare photos.
Inside this stage: Prepare the material
Interviews are transcribed. Photos are processed according to the reporter’s choices and analysed for context. Original files are retained privately; uncertain speakers and photo descriptions cannot become invented facts.
Research & connect
Add sources and relevant earlier coverage.
Inside this stage: Research & connect
The Engine discovers and retrieves supporting documents, checks primary-source requirements and combines them with original reporting in an evidence dossier. Earlier Automatica coverage provides background, not independent confirmation.
Develop the article
Draft, format and apply house style.
Inside this stage: Develop the article
The same article service used for source-driven coverage develops the story and attaches selected photos. The human reporter keeps the byline; the assisting agent is recorded separately.
Original notes and recordings remain private. Selected photos and the finished article may be published.
A draft must earn its way to publication
Both creation paths enter these checks. Automated publication requires every required gate to pass.
Evidence & safety
Check claims against the dossier.
Inside this stage: Evidence & safety
The fact-checker checks source support and safety before editorial review. Eligible unsupported claims can return to the writer for bounded repair passes, followed by another fact-check. Failed or incomplete checks hold publication.
Editorial review
Assess accuracy, framing and clarity.
Inside this stage: Editorial review
The automated editor reviews drafts that pass fact-checking. It can approve, request revision or hold a story. An editorial revision is fact-checked again before it can publish.
Final publication gates
Check the article that will actually run.
Inside this stage: Final publication gates
Final citation and quality checks run after repairs and revisions. Required primary documents must be cited inline and included in the source list. A favourable model review cannot override missing required citations.
Revise → recheck. Eligible drafts return to the writer for corrections. Revised claims are checked again; revision alone is never approval.
- All required checks pass
Publish automatically
The article goes live with its citations and reporting credit. Research snapshots and review decisions stay linked to the story.
- A required check is unresolved
Hold with a reason
Preserve the reporting and any draft for follow-up. Missing evidence can stop the process before drafting; editors can address the gap.
Human approval is optional. Editors retain the ability to revise, publish, archive and correct coverage.
A concrete example
A new TV announcement becomes a sourced story.
Imagine a technology outlet reports on a new Sony television. The reporting provides a lead. The Engine’s primary-source workflow seeks the relevant Sony product page or announcement, retrieves it and checks what it supports. The article cites the original document for specifications and credits the outlet for its own reporting. Sony’s performance claims remain attributed claims unless independent evidence supports them.
If required evidence is unavailable, the story is held. Adding a manufacturer’s homepage to a list of links does not satisfy the requirement.
Editorial control
Automation with an accountable record
Automated publication does not require a human approval step. Editors retain the ability to revise, publish, archive and correct coverage. Research snapshots, review decisions and revision history support that work. Automated checks can miss errors; ongoing editorial evaluation remains part of refining the Engine.
