OpenAI has introduced Intelligent UI in ChatGPT, enabling the chatbot to generate interactive visuals and tools directly within conversations. The update is rolling out globally to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users starting today, with Go and free tiers to follow on Thursday.

The Intelligent UI feature allows ChatGPT to combine text responses with diagrams, charts, forms, tappable buttons, and more. According to OpenAI, the feature is designed to enhance user understanding and interaction by tailoring the response format to the user's query. For example, a question about a seven-speed bicycle's design might elicit an interactive diagram with tappable parts, while a request to learn Mahjong could generate visuals of tiles categorized for easy scrolling. Users can also ask ChatGPT to create tools like retirement savings calculators or bill splitters, which will appear inline with the response The Verge.

OpenAI has integrated GPT-6 models, specifically Sol and Luna, into ChatGPT. The GPT-6 Sol model is available to higher-tier subscribers, while the more efficient GPT-6 Luna will be accessible to Go and free users. The update also improves web search capabilities and provides quicker, partial answers while gathering information. OpenAI notes that GPT-6 demonstrates stronger resistance to attempts to bypass its safety training The Verge.

The Intelligent UI feature is available across various reasoning levels, from Instant through Extra High, and can be customized through user preferences. Users can add instructions in Custom Instructions to guide the response style, such as keeping answers concise or using tables for comparisons. The feature can be turned off by selecting a simpler response style in the ChatGPT settings OpenAI Help Center. However, the Pro reasoning option using GPT-6 Astra does not support Intelligent UI OpenAI Help Center.

Intelligent UI is not available in the Work tab or Voice mode, and its functionality with plugins like Gmail, Health, and Finance remains unchanged. Some interactive elements, such as checklists, can retain their state when refreshing the chat thread, but state is not retained across different chat threads OpenAI Help Center.
