DeepSeek has introduced a Creator Mode for its Harness agent platform that allows users to build custom plugins through chat, according to a company product page and secondary reports dated early November 2026.
The addition matters because it shifts more control over AI agent behavior to end users and developers, who can now generate new tools as plugins inside the Harness environment without leaving the chat interface.
On its Harness product page, DeepSeek describes Harness as an open-source agent "built on Cordis's 'everything is a plugin' architecture" and states that users can "install plugins, or create them through chat in 'Creator mode', to extend tools, skills, and the interface".DeepSeek1 The page says Harness is "now in public preview worldwide" with "composable plugins that extend what agents can do" and invites "users and developers worldwide" to participate in an evolving plugin ecosystem.DeepSeek1
Bloomberg Technology2 reported on November 2, 2026, that DeepSeek had unveiled a new option to quickly create custom plugins to tackle a range of complex tasks, describing the move as a step to bolster the company’s AI agent offerings. PANews said on November 3 that DeepSeek Harness announced the launch of Creator Mode in a post on X, and that the feature "lets users turn ideas into ready-to-use plugins", citing examples including a design workspace, a sandbox game and a 3D LLM visualization tool.PANews3
The Harness page lists several categories of work that agents can perform, including organizing files, analyzing data, drafting documents and slides, fixing bugs, building features, running tests, research tasks such as finding facts and citing sources, and background tasks like running scripts and tracking progress.DeepSeek1 It states that users can start tasks anytime, run recurring work on a schedule and inspect tool call details, and that developer tools allow inspection of execution traces and detailed runtime information.DeepSeek1
For developers, DeepSeek says the web interface can be launched with Node.js using npx, or installed from source by cloning the repository, and that Harness's core plugins and APIs are "evolving" as part of a preview-phase plugin ecosystem.DeepSeek1 The available documents do not specify a precise launch date for Creator Mode, pricing, or any access restrictions beyond describing Harness as in public preview worldwide.
