Afeela's Make-or-Break Moment?
The Afeela 1 has been kicking around CES since its debut as the Vision-S back in 2020. We've seen iterations, heard promises, and even got a price tag: a cool $89,900. But the early buzz hasn't been great. As Engadget's Tim Stevens put it last year, the Afeela 1 felt "like a PlayStation 4 in the PS5 era." Ouch. Let's hope they've leveled up since then with the new concept model.
What to Expect: More Than Just Afeela 1
Sony Honda Mobility isn't just rolling out the Afeela 1. They're bringing "several Afeela 1 pre-production vehicles in multiple color variations" to their CES booth, alongside the hotly anticipated new Afeela concept model, according to their press release. Fingers crossed that this new concept addresses some of the earlier criticisms and shows a glimpse of the future of electric vehicles.
One thing we do know is coming: PlayStation Remote Play. Yes, you'll be able to stream your PS4 and PS5 games in your Afeela. While that sounds neat on paper, the implementation and network reliability will be key. After all, no one wants lag while battling a boss. And will this Remote Play exacerbate the range? We need to know!
CES is always full of surprises, and I'm cautiously optimistic about what Sony Honda Mobility will bring to the table.
