Tencent said it officially launched Hy3, a 295-billion-parameter Mixture-of-Experts model under the Apache 2.0 license, in an announcement on its website1 that gives no date.

The release gives developers a model they can download and use commercially, which Tencent calls a "commercially friendly" license. Tencent also says Hy3 delivers intelligence "comparable to flagship models with two to five times its parameter scale." The announcement includes no benchmark results, test conditions or named baseline models for that comparison, so the claim rests on Tencent's word alone.

Hy3 is a hybrid fast-and-slow-thinking model with 21 billion active parameters and a context length of up to 256K, according to the Tencent announcement1. Tencent says that compared with the preview version, the official release is more stable and cost-efficient, and that it shows "significantly enhanced performance relative to models of the same size."

Tencent describes a development path that began with rebuilding its infrastructure in late January 2026. The Hy3 preview followed on 23 April as the first model in the Hy3 generation, and Tencent says the full model-development loop took less than six months. The company says the preview improved on Hy2 in complex reasoning, instruction-following, in-context learning, code generation and agent capabilities. It attributes the official release's further gains to strengthened reinforcement learning and enhanced data quality and diversity. Tencent Hunyuan is now known as Tencent Hy.

Tencent reports two usage figures for the preview: average daily token consumption has risen twenty-fold since its launch, and the number of WorkBuddy users who actively select it has grown sixfold. Both figures are Tencent's own. Hy3 is already used in WorkBuddy/CodeBuddy, Yuanbao, Marvis and ima. Tencent says Yuanbao's new Agent function, which generates files in formats such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, PDF and HTML, is available at no cost.

The weights are on Hugging Face and ModelScope, which Tencent says have carried the model from day one. The API is available on Tencent Cloud TokenHub. Tencent says OpenRouter, Hermes, Kilo, Cline, OpenClaw, OpenCode and Cherry Studio will integrate Hy3 progressively. The announcement does not state API pricing.
