NVIDIA opened applications for its 2027–2028 Graduate Fellowship Program on September 30, offering awards of up to $60,000 per student.
The program targets PhD students working in artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous vehicles, computer graphics, robotics, healthcare, high-performance computing and other fields central to the company’s technology. Grants come with mentorship and technical support from NVIDIA.
Now in its 26th year, the fellowship has awarded over 220 grants worth around $8 million since its start in 2002, according to NVIDIA. Automatica reported last month on NVIDIA’s launch of an open agent safety platform, and earlier on its DSX AI Factory Platform — signs of the company’s widening research footprint that the fellowship program helps feed.
To apply, students must have completed at least one year of PhD-level studies by the time of application. The deadline is October 30, 2026. An in-person internship at an NVIDIA research office during summer 2027 is mandatory for fellowship recipients, the company said.
NVIDIA’s announcement did not specify the number of awards available for the 2027–2028 cycle or detail selection criteria beyond the research areas listed. The program website provides eligibility and application details.
