LG is set to kick off CES 2026 with its press conference on Monday, January 5th, at 11 AM ET. While Samsung decided to present the evening before, LG will be hitting the ground running bright and early, promising a glimpse into its vision of "Innovation in Tune with You." As usual, I’ll be watching closely, ready to cut through the marketing and analyze the real tech.
Make sure to tune in via the LG website, the LG Global X channel, or the LG Global YouTube channel. It’s always a spectacle, even if the surprises are getting harder to come by, thanks to the pre-show leaks.
"Affectionate Intelligence" and the Human Touch
According to Engadget, AI will be a central theme, but with an LG twist: "Affectionate Intelligence." It’s a clever rebrand, aiming to position LG's AI as more human-centric, focused on seamlessly connected customer experiences. This tracks with what I'm seeing across the industry – a move away from cold, calculating AI towards systems that feel more intuitive and empathetic. I remain cautiously optimistic; the proof will be in the execution, not just the marketing.
Micro RGB TVs and the Battle for Display Supremacy
The headliner is undoubtedly LG's first Micro RGB TV. They are touting it as a display with multicolor backlights that should one-up mini LED displays. Available in 100-inch, 86-inch, and 75-inch sizes, these TVs represent LG's attempt to push the boundaries of display technology. It’s a direct challenge to Samsung’s dominance in the TV market, and I’m eager to see how Micro RGB performs in real-world conditions. The company is also countering Samsung's Frame TVs with its new LG Gallery TV, arriving in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes.
Beyond TVs, expect to see the CLOiD, a humanoid home automation robot, a Dolby-powered modular home audio system developed with will.i.am, and a revamped Gram laptop line featuring a new “Aerominum” material. All in all, LG's CES 2026 presentation promises a mix of cutting-edge display tech, AI-driven experiences, and a dash of celebrity collaboration. While many details have already surfaced, I'm hoping for a few genuine surprises that showcase LG's true innovation. The consumer electronics space is fiercely competitive, and LG needs to demonstrate more than just incremental improvements to stay ahead.
